Governor Quinn Statement on Critical Agreement Reached by Legislative Leaders CHICAGO – Governor Pat Quinn issued the below statement regarding today’s agreement among the legislative leaders on a comprehensive pension reform solution: “I commend the legislative leaders – Senate President John Cullerton, House Speaker Mike Madigan, Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogno and House Minority Leader Jim Durkin – for their hard work to reach this critical agreement. I also commend members of the conference committee for their work throughout the summer and fall to get us to this point. “When I proposed the creation of a conference committee in June, I asked members to draft a plan that eliminated the unfunded pension debt and fully stabilized the systems, and this plan meets that standard. “We have more work to do. I look forward to working with the leaders and members of the General Assembly over the coming days to get this job done for the people of Illinois.”

Presently, Pam Harris’ family in the video below, is just one of more than 5,000 families affected by Governor Quinn giving Illinois Unions like, SEIU, the executive order, and right to try and unionize primary care givers, mainly parents, of the Illinois Children’s and Adult’s Home-based Support Program . This Home-based Support Program is for individuals with significant developmental and physical disabilities who require extra medical and daily care, thus qualifying them for state institutionalized care. (Note: institutionalized state care cost about $120,000 per person compare to $15,000 to 24,000 per home care.) A recent lawsuit, the Ligas Concent and Decree, MANDATES THE STATE of Illinois to provide community supports, like the home-based support program to the more than 27,000 significantly disabled currently waiting on a list for services in the Home-based Support Program. This strong arming by Gov. Quinn and the Unions is no more than an attempt to prey on and steal money away from the most physically and mentally challenged and their families. Imagine easily garnishing union dues from each of these 27,000 and that number grows every day. Unionizing families of the disabled is worse than stealing candy from a baby; it is truly stealing the money from disabled babies and adults to pad union pockets and push union agendas. This is truly a David and Goliath story. God bless Pam Harris, David, for taking on, Goliath, the Unions and may the better man, David, prevail. Watch this entire video and contact your legislator to voice you outrage that your hard-earned tax money, that is supposed to be helping the most vulnerable, would even be considered less get into the hands of unions. http://illinoispolicy.org/videos/a-heroic-mom-from-illinois/
