Who should we support for Governor of Illinois? There is no easy answer. Pat Quinn is against us on pensions and on many other educational issues. Of the Republicans, Rauner is barely one and would abolish our pension system and much of public education. He was against SB 1 ONLY because it wasn’t draconian enough. Brady voted YES on SB 1, and he is no better now than in 2010. That leaves Kirk Dillard and Dan Rutherford, and third party candidates. When it was Quinn versus Brady before, I could not vote for either of them, but it is true that a third party vote is a wasted vote in that it will not elect someone else as Governor. State Senator Dillard did vote NO on SB 1, but the running mate he personally chose for Lt. Governor, State Rep. Jil Tracy, voted YES on SB 1. When Dan Rutherford was a legislator he was NOT supportive of our issues, and once would not even discuss (he angrily walked away) an important special education matter. Although Rutherford could not vote on SB 1, he said all the right things against it. We need a new Governor. This election is too important to all of us. We should consider taking a Republican ballot in the March primary (even if some of us would be doing that for the very first time), unless there is a crucial Democratic race in the primary (such as a Democrat running against a Democrat who vote for SB 1). With reservations, I’ve leaning toward Kirk Dillard over Dan Rutherford. Dillard knows how the Governor’s office should work, and is willing to consider all points of view. At this time, who would you support? We really need to make some hard decisions and support someone who could be the next Governor.

There is a reason why Illinois Republican Gubernatorial candidate BRUCE RAUNER (a powerhouse in his own right), is getting advice from Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker! Is Scott Walker POTUS material…why not! Bill Clinton came from Arkansas. “To put our fiscal house in order, we passed a law called Act 10 that ended collective bargaining for everything except base wages. We freed school districts from the stranglehold of collective bargaining rules — allowing them, for example, to buy health insurance on the open market and hire and fire teachers based on merit for the first time. Today, thanks to these reforms, our $3.6 billion deficit has become a $759 million surplus. School districts across Wisconsin have saved tens of millions of dollars, money they have used to offset state spending cuts and improve education, instead of closing schools and laying off teachers. Property taxes dropped for the first time in over a decade. Unemployment is down. Our bond rating is solid. Wisconsin’s pension system is the only one in the country that is fully funded. And we did it all while avoiding tax increases, cuts to programs like Medicaid, and mass layoffs of teachers and public workers. You could do the same in Illinois.” Scott Walker, Governor of Wisconsin

I read with interest Sen. Kirk Dillard’s statements in the Sun-Times article regarding Bruce Rauner’s reported 2012 income. I will venture to say Sen. Dillard has not spent much, if any time with Mr. Rauner to see firsthand if he is a ruse or the real deal. Unlike Sen. Dillard, I have spent time with Bruce. No, not in the boardroom or around the negotiating table, but on the youth baseball fields when I coached our sons’ teams. Bruce was our first base coach (a better cheerleader than baseball tactician) and I can tell everyone the $18 watch is the real deal right along with the old Volvo station wagon. The years were 2007 and 2008, well before Bruce thought he could bring desperately needed leadership to Illinois. I encourage the voter’s of this great State to reach out and meet Bruce, first hand to judge for themselves. But as for Sen. Dillard, I truly hope his stereotypical comments are limited to his gubernatorial opponents. http://voices.suntimes.com/early-and-often/politics/rauner-discloses-55-million-in-income-for-2012/

Eddie Acevedo voted yes for the pension refrom bill that put the blame and burden on the people who payed into it. eddies likes to teel people that he ws a policeman in 010 Dist. Believe me Eddie nobody ever called you a policeman, and certaintly not the Po-Po. The bill which by the way is unconstitutional, not that he constitution ever got in the way of good polictics. They knew when they were not paying their fare share and borrowing against our pension that they would not be able to pay it back. I use the word borrow when in fact it should be stealing our pension money. Now it is in trouble, so they are punishing all of us who payed our fare share, when they payed nothing. Then they have the gall to hail this as a great breakthrough in pension reform. True pension reform should start with indictments, starting with Daley and ending up at capital hill. Then we wouldn’t feel as though we were made fools of, even though we were. There is a clause in there that says if you are collecting social security you will get less ,as though one has something to do with the other. Well in a way i guess it does. Afterall it was Rostentkowski a deomcrat who sponsored a bill which roughly stated if you receive a municipal pension you cannot collect full social security benefits, even though you payed your full 40 quarters. Even though one had nothing to do with the other. Rostentkowski went to jail and forfited his pension untill a domocratic president pardoned him so he was once again eligible to recieve a pension. Funny how that shit works. I met Rostentkowski daughter one night, she was parked in a car with a guy shooting a substance in her arm, one can only guess what vitamin that was. All I had for evidence was an empty syringe. How do I know it was his daughter, she told me so, and how I was going to get fired for harassing her, and she was parked on the street behind his house off of Noble St. I only mention this because he is dead and I can’t spit in his eye, this is a little revenge on my part. Childish I know. Who knew I could have been a politican too.
